How do I turn in an animal?

Please fill out the correct form for each animal you want to turn in,  with as much information as possible, so that we can help you and your pet as best as possible.

If you live within the Athens City limits, please fill out the form(s) below.  Our intake coordinator will be in contact to schedule a turn in appointment date or to let you know where you are on the turn-in wait list.

In the meantime, while you wait for a space to become available you can check out the below resources as they may be able to help you rehome your animal quicker.

Once you are scheduled for a turn in appointment, you will need to bring the animal, photo identification (i.e. a driver's license) and proof of residency (i.e. current utility bill) and any vet records for your pet. Please understand that if you are a no show for your scheduled appointment, the kennel space will go to the next person on the waitlist.

What hours are you open?

Monday thru Friday 9:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm. 
We are closed for lunch daily from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

If you would like to meet any of our dogs, we do request that you make an appointment so that we can schedule a private yard for you to with the dog(s). This helps by allowing the dog(s) to meet in a less loud and distracting environment.

We are off Highway 72 East between Russell Stovers Chocolates and French's Shoes and Boots, behind the Limestone Veterinary  Clinic and across the street from Dunkin' Donuts and 7th Brew Coffee.

Unfortunately, at this time Athens Animal Services does not offer low cost spay/neuter.
