** UPDATE - We are sad to announce that on the last day of this month, Monday, September 30, 2024, Athens Limestone Animal Services will be closing.  The City of Athens and Limestone County have chosen not to renew our contract.  Until the end of this month, we will continue to serve the community by caring for lost, surrendered and homeless dogs and cats.  It is our goal to EMPTY THE SHELTER, finding homes for ALL animals currently in our care.  We are open Monday through Friday, 9-4, closed for lunch 12-1.  

If you are interested in saving one (or more) of our homeless animals, please fill out an application so that we can have you come in and meet the animal. 

We want to thank the community and (both local and out of state) rescuers that have stepped up and helped get animals out of our facility to safe and loving homes. **

Athens Limestone Animal Services is a local non-profit animal shelter that cares for the lost, surrendered, and homeless pets of our community. Each year we accept over 3,000 dogs and cats annually. It is our mission to go above and beyond by not only providing necessary medical care but to reunite lost animals with their family and to find new families for the strays and surrendered animals of our community.
